Actor Howard Hesseman, known for his television roles such as disc jockey “Dr. Johnny Fever” on WKRP in Cincinnati, has passed away.

Hesseman is known to Rob Zombie fans for playing Uncle Meat in Halloween II. Rob pays tribute to the actor on his Instagram:

I just heard about the death of Howard Hesseman. I was big fan of WKRP IN CINCINNATI and thought Dr. Johnny Fever was the coolest. Needless to say I was thrilled to work with him on Halloween 2. At first I think he wasn’t too sure about doing the film, but as soon as we got on the phone together and I started talking about Cisco Pike he knew I was a fan and he was in. He was a unique dude and will be missed. #riphowardhesseman#wkrpincincinnati #halloween2

The Emmy-nominated actor was also known for his four season appearance as Charlie Moore on the ABC series Head of the Class, Sam Royer on One Day at a Time and Judge Robert Thompson in Boston Legal. Hesseman also played Captain Pete Lassard, the younger brother of Commandant Eric Lassard in Police Academy 2: Their First Assignment.

Our thoughts are with his friends and family, in particular his wife Caroline Ducrocq.
