Rob Zombie delivers ‘riveting performance’ in Manchester [concert gallery too]

Manchester is known in the UK as the home of stalwarts such as Oasis and the infamous The Haçienda but on Wednesday it became the home – for one night – of evil – Twins of Evil style.

QRO Magazine reviewed the show and you can read the extract here and see images from the show by photographer Ian Pickles.

If Manson’s set verged on the over serious the same cannot be said of his partner in wickedness on the night, the gloriously over-the-top Rob Zombie.  Having revitalized the Halloween franchise, Zombie now divides his time between music and filmmaking, but whichever he’s doing he seems to give it one hundred percent, and his set featured every horror trope in the playbook.  (more…)

Jesus Frankenstein kicked things off in gloriously fun fashion, massive screens around the stage firing off retro-horror imagery, a multi-limbed skeletal structure looming ominously over the crowd in front of a gigantic iron man structure, before Rob Zombie was suddenly roaming the stage, appearing like a long-dead hobo sent back from the underworld by Lucifer himself to whip the audience back into shape. Rob Zombie displays ‘Unfathomable levels of charisma’ at London show

So the Twins of Evil roared into London on Monday night with a fiery mix of mayhem and music.  We are seeing some great feedback from the fans and wanted to share some reviews of the show too.  So here are excerpts from two: one from stereoboard.com and the other from Metal Hammer (who have a special Twins of Evil feature in their latest edition).

Great snaps from London’s Twins of Evil show

So, last night (26 Nov) saw the Twins of Evil tour launch itself with style in Europe by performing at London’s O2 arena for the first of 4 UK shows before they head over for the rest of their Europe dates.

The renowned metal-musician-cum-horror-film-maker Rob Zombie has been talking about his upcoming film “The Lords of Salem” a horror movie he wrote and directed that is due out next year. It’s the story of the city of Salem in Massachusetts visited by a coven of ancient witches. The film was screened at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival and won generally positive reviews. Possible air date for Rob Zombie’s appearance on Daves Old Porn Show?

Thanks to one of our eagle eyed Zombiehead members, M Tragedy666, we have a possible air date for Rob Zombie’s appearance on Showtimes “Dave’s Old Porn Show”.  The appearance was first reported when the episode was recorded.  Showtime began airing season two of Dave Attell’s show on November 8th.  Zombie will be on episode 5, which if all scheduling goes well, will mean an air date of December 6th (of course check your local listings).

Zombie contributes artwork to Classic Monsters group art show

Classic Monsters

Year round horror haven Halloween Town opens the “Tribute to Classic Monsters” group art show on December 1st. 2012. The opening night event is from 7 to 11 pm Dec. 1st, and the exhibit runs until December 30th.

The show features original artwork based on the classic movie monsters with artists ranging from multiple Academy Award winning special FX makeup artist Rick Baker to film director and horror rock legend Rob Zombie. (Please note: Rob Zombie will not be in attendance due to touring). (more…)

As you will recall we have been holding a contest to find the best  “Rob Zombie’s movie character trick or treat costume” for our photo contest.  Last week we closed the contest and Rob has been going through the email applications we received, which was a LOT, hence we are a couple days over the original announce date. We wanted photos that would fit into one of FOUR categories for submission: one for most original, one for the scariest, one for the sexiest and one for all around best!

Here’s what the man had to say: “I try to keep both going. I used to do one or the other. I would do a movie that would take me away for two years, then I would come back and do some touring. “Finally THE LORDS OF SALEM gets an R rating!

It will carry the rating — Rated R for “Disturbing violent and sexual content, graphic nudity, language, and some drug use.”

Just a little public service announcement to let everyone know the recent “Rob Zombie’s movie character trick or treat costume photo contest“, is now CLOSED.  Rob is now going through the mass of entries we received and will pick winners based on four categories: “most original”, “the scariest”, “the sexiest” and one for “all around best!”.  Winners will be announced in the next week or so.

Rob Zombie to receive award for Personal Achievement in Direction

Rob Zombie New York Horror Film Festival

On November 9, Rob Zombie will attend the 10th Annual New York City Horror Film Festival where he will receive the Michael J. Hein award for Personal Achievement in Direction.  According to The Examiner, Rob Zombie will also show to the audience in attendance a special “Director’s Choice” screening of one of his films.

The US leg of the Twins of Evil tour officially ended last night in a Halloween extravaganza.  Later this month it will travel overseas to Europe and on the 28 November at the SECC in Glasgow.  Scottish publication, The Skinny, chatted with Rob Zombie ahead of the trip about movies, touring and more.  He also gives his top five classic horror movie scores.
