Spookshow Baby! Rob Zombie Cannibalizes Detroit by Adam O’Connor
The thing about Rob Zombie that many people seem not to understand is that – aside from having sold upwards of 15 million albums as a living dead rock star of epic proportion over the past quarter-century and helmed numerous films successfully – he’s really just a dude. Granted, his legal surname actually is Zombie, and yes, he utilizes every ghoulish trick, antic and mind-blowing visual and aural stunt imaginable during his live permormances – certainly providing one of the most incredibly dynamic and entertaining live shows of any modern musician (more…)

Rob Zombie’s brutal creativity is spread equally over his music and films. Both aspects of his career bleed with a visceral cult verve and classic B-movie horror. Zombie’s work is over the top. The trailer for The Lords of Salem is the first thing you will see when you come to robzombie.com. You can also view it at the official Rob Zombie You Tube channel. The sinister trailer features stars Sheri Moon Zombie, Pat Quinn, Dee Wallace and more in the tale of a local DJ who stumbles across a record which awakens a horror long thought dead. The film has recently been acquired by Anchor Bay Films and will be released in 2013.
Says Rob Zombie on the release timing: “For those of you confused and or pissed that the LORDS is not coming out asap. Well, I will try and explain it. Lords only just got distribution recently, so it was impossible to lock in theaters to show it. Studios book the screens and pick their release dates far in advance of the release. We did not have that luxury on this project due to the manner in which we decided to make it.
We are releasing it as soon as screens are available to show it. Simple as that.”
And in case you want to watch it again

“The only thing I ever really care about is animals — animal causes. I don’t really care about people that much, but animals I feel like they always need to be protected,” Zombie told Samaritanmag, while in Toronto promoting The Lords of Salem.
It’s not like the filmmaker hasn’t incorporated animal mutilation in his films. Let’s face it — the guy makes horror films. In his remake of Halloween, there is animal mutilation (fake, of course). But in The Lords of Salem, he uses the dog as an interesting device for the lead character, Heidi, played by his wife, Sheri Moon.
