It’s been a busy week for Rob Zombie so far. On Sunday he went into the desert to film the new video for his single ‘Dead City Radio and the New Gods of Supertown” with fellow band members John 5, Piggy D and Ginger Fish as well as his wife Sheri Moon Zombie and a few other special guests. Then on Monday, he and the band were escorted by 60 Hells Angels to the Whisky A-Go-Go in Los Angeles for the huge press announcement of the 2013 Rockstar Mayhem Festival on which Rob will be main-staging.

The Lords of Salem had its US Premiere at the SXSW Festival in Austin Texas last night (March 11). The film is due for full release on April 19 2013, distributed by Anchor Bay Films. In this latest review, Complex.com give a 7 out of 10 rating for what they call “his most ambitious and befuddling work yet—befuddling in positive ways comparable to the least comprehensible, yet no less enthralling and delightfully appalling, films from, say, Alejandro Jodorowsky and Dario Argento“. Rob Zombie has revealed the artwork for the forthcoming soundtrack to his movie The Lords of Salem. The score has been composted by Zombie guitarist John 5 and Griffin Bolce (producer who has worked with Zombie, Black Eyed Peas and Hollywood Undead). John 5 said of the score recently “The music was very challenging and sometimes there was no key signature or time signature for this music, which is all orchestral and acoustic with the exception of one death metal song. You had to be able to follow the story and create emotions for each scene with the music.” to see the full cover (more…)

This clip features Sheri Moon Zombie and Jeff Daniel Phillips in a particularly terrifying moment. Says Zombie about the character of Heidi, Played by SMZ: “Heidi has some lineage to the witch trials — but she’s also a recovering drug addict. So, in the course of the film, you’re not sure if she’s back on drugs, if she’s losing her mind, or if these events are actually happening to her.”.

The novelization of The Lords of Salem is due out end of March. The book is co-written by Rob Zombie and B.K.Evenson. Zombie has said about the book “…offers a different experience from the film since it can obviously go into much more detail.
