This past weekend, Rob Zombie hosted the tenth annual Johnny Ramone Tribute Night at LA’s Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Rolling Stone Magazine was there and followed the event which saw guests including Kirk Hammet, Steve Jones of The Sex Pistols, as well as Johnny Ramones widow Linda Ramone, who has organized the event yearly. This year was the first following the death of Tommy Ramone, whose death made this the first Tribute event without a living Ramones member. Said Zombie on his friend Johnny Ramone; “I miss him every day. He was a wonderful kind guy. There was nobody like him. There was nothing like the Ramones, so we’re here for Johnny, Joey, Dee Dee and Tommy.”

Last summer, while on the Mayhem tour, Rob Zombie met up with the folks at the Puppy Rescue Mission charity – which helps dogs rescued by soldiers while on their tour of duty – animals that not only give the soldiers much needed bonds, but whom have also saved the soldiers. Said Rob of the campaign last year: “… soldiers in Afghanistan would find these dogs and bond with them and sneak them on the bases, even though they weren’t supposed to have them. It was probably the only moment of sanity for these guys, when they spent time with them….But they weren’t allowed to take them home, and if they could, it was so expensive. That was a cause I could really understand and get behind.”
To that end he has narrated a video campaign, directed by Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival documenter Strati Hovartos, to bring more light on this wonderful charity. The video features a cast of active duty and veteran warriors.

Rob Zombie talks about his next film, ’31′
“Welcome to my next film. It is called 31. It is the story of five random people kidnapped on the five days leading up to Halloween and held hostage in a place called Murder World. While trapped inside this man-made Hell they must fight to survive playing the most violent game known to man… a game called 31.
31 has no rules. 31 has no boundaries. It is ever so simple. Do whatever you can do to kill your opponent before they kill you. Keep this up for 12 hours and freedom is yours. Who are the opponents? Well… a group of vile, filthy, blood-thirsty clowns known as THE HEADS. They come in all shapes and sizes and each grows nastier than the last. ”

Ubisoft, premiered a new animated trailer for their upcoming game release, Assassin’s Creed Unity during a demo/Q&A at Comic-Con this past Friday. Our friends at Rolling Stone magazine were given the trailer for an exclusive airing yesterday, and now its you can watch the gory excerpt here at robzombie.com. The animated short was Rob Zombie and The Walking Dead co-creator Tony Moore.
The clip is a retelling of the French Revolution, the period in which the game is set. Rob Zombie spoke to Rolling Stone Magazine about working on a video game piece: “I thought it was interesting because I never work in the medium of video games, so it was a new thing to do“.
Following Rob Zombie’s sudden withdrawal from the stage, after two songs, at RockFest this saturday, it is understandable fans were upset at missing a full show from the band – something Rob is as much saddened by, having played through thick and thin for the past 29 years. However as the following statement from Rob says, this was not something he did lightly and he hopes these words may go some way to state why he had to stop the show early.
From Rob Zombie:
I am very sorry to everyone who was at RockFest. Believe it or not this is the first time in 29 years I have not been able to finish a show. I have played through many many nights with a fucked voice. I knew it backstage but came out and tried anyway, but failed. I understand people are pissed, but what can you do? It is easy to say “man up and just do it” but when no sound is coming out there is nothing you can do. If you have ever lost your voice before, then you know it doesn’t magically return just because you want it to. If there was a way to do the show I would have done it, as I have many, many times before. Fuck, I done shows where I walked to the side of the stage between songs to vomit I was so sick. Whatever. I’m not looking for sympathy and I don’t expect anyone care but these are the facts. (more…)
From Rob Zombie:
“Lots of news on my next film 31 will be coming your way very soon. But until then I thought I share with your one many awesome production drawings from the film courtesy of Alex Horley.”
