rob-zombie-interview-pic

Seriously you HAVE to love this man! Indiewire had a chat with Rob Zombie before his new movie The Lords of Salem airs at the 2013 SXSW midnight screening (March 8).  In this brilliant tongue-in-cheek interview Rob speaks about being the “third-born” Marx Brother, editing on a “pressed-wood table with a black lacquered finish from IKEA” and dance numbers in the film???  Believe me this will bring a smile to your face – to read the interview:

Meet the 2013 SXSW Filmmakers #25: Rob Zombie On How ‘Ernest Goes to Jail’ Inspired ‘Lords of Salem’

When you interrupt Rob Zombie while he’s watching “Wheel of Fortune,” he might decide to respond to your questions as his alter ego…

Tell us about yourself:  “I am an American comedian and film and television star. Known as a master of quick wit and widely considered one of the best comedians of the modern era. My rapid-fire, often impromptu delivery of innuendo-laden patter earned me many admirers and imitators. I made 13 feature films with my siblings the Marx Brothers, of whom I was the third-born. I also had a successful solo career, most notably as the host of the radio and television game show ‘You Bet Your Life.’ My distinctive appearance, carried over from my days in vaudeville, included quirks such as an exaggerated stooped posture, glasses, cigar, and a thick greasepaint mustache and eyebrows.”

What else do you want audiences to know about your film? “It is in full color and features no dance numbers… well, maybe two but they are mercifully short.”

What would you like SXSW audiences to come away with after seeing your film? “Free popcorn and new found knack for Satanic chanting.”

Did any specific films inspire you? “‘Ernest Goes To Jail’ and ‘The Bicycle Thief.'”

What camera did you film on? “The one we rented from the guy with the funny hat standing behind Home Depot.”

What did you edit on? “A pressed-wood table with a black lacquered finish from IKEA.”

What’s next? “Endless hours of meetings and phone calls about films that will never get made.”
