Zombie explains why the ‘Werewolf Women’ movie version didn’t pan out

Sci Fi Now Werewolf Women

It’s another of the ‘most asked’ questions by Rob Zombie fans; ‘Will the Werewolf Women of the SS trailer be made into a full fledged movie?’

As part of a fuller interview with SciFi Now, Rob Zombie explains why this spin-off from the Grindhouse movies, won’t be happening.

As one of the spoof trailers in Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez’ Grindhouse, many of us – the director included – were expecting Rob Zombie‘s love letter to the trashy likes of Ilsa, She Wolf Of The SSentitled Werewolf Women Of The SS to follow in the footsteps of two other fake trailers, Machete and Hobo With A Shotgun.

“That was originally the plan and we certainly spoke about the spin-off movies at the time,” says Zombie, speaking exclusively to SciFiNow for a future issue of the magazine.

“Of course, they ended up doing Machete,” continues Zombie, “but the others fell to the side. I would still love to make it but it is probably never going to happen because I do not own the rights. The wholeGrindhouse thing is owned by Dimension.

“It is a shame because it would have been a great movie – but when Grindhouse did not pan out to be the success that Dimension were hoping for that was pretty much the end of it.”

  1. Since they did end up making Machete and now a Machete Kills. I hope someone over at Dimension would let you green light Werewolves. The fans base is already Rabid for it guaranteed box office. Let it be it’s own thing that came from Grindhouse like Hobo with a Shotgun did!

Maybe Rob should do what Robert Rodriguez does: Make a Box Office Movie for Dimension (like Rodriguez with Spy Kids) and with the incoming money the grindhouse movie can be made…

I can totally see why the Weinsteins wouldnt go for it, They probably think Nazi/women in leather bondage/lesbian chick prison/schlock type cinematic ventures arent a big dollar making process and they probably want more cinematic money spinners!!!!!,The fact is this film would never make any where near the cash something like a lagging sequel such as ‘Scream 5′ could make at the box office, After the box office dud that was ‘Grindhouse’ why would they want to put up the money for anything special or offbeat and non-mainstream when they can make huge bankable appeal -to -the- masses profit making blockbusters , But yea it does suck that we wont see this one and ‘Machete’ was ok but not great – right !!!

This blows…that Rob can’t do anything about it. Maybe Dimension will come around. After all, Eli Roth is supposedly still making Thanksgiving? Hopefully Rob can use his mad negotiation skills and work out a deal eventually. Especially since knowing Rob, he may not require a lot of money to make it. I’m sure he could pull it off with 10 million or less. Probably much less. Dimension would surely make that back! Fairly quickly too. It’s almost financially in their favor to make it! Hopefully if Lords of Salem does really well, they will re-think their position on making it. Also, I’m surprised Lords of Salem even would get green lit before something like Werewolf Women, which had a TON of exposure… all the Grindhouse fans, all the Zombie fans…. There was practically a lot of free promotion for it. So, I can’t understand why they aren’t jumping on this gem!
