Rob Zombie: “Someone Who Likes My Movies Might Hate Fucking Rock Music”

Metal Hammer has released an excerpt of their interview with Rob Zombie, in this months December issue of the magazine.  Enjoy!

Rob Zombie, who currently fronts our new issue with his Twin Of Evil Marilyn Manson, recently spoke to us about juggling his career as a musician with more recent ventures as a film director. Here’s what the man had to say: “I try to keep both going. I used to do one or the other. I would do a movie that would take me away for two years, then I would come back and do some touring. I always felt like I had to re-fire up the music because you lose the momentum.

“But, in the last couple of years I was doing both, where I’d be touring, and I’d shoot the movie but not edit the movie, then go tour some more, and come back and work on the movie and do some more touring. I was trying to keep all the balls in the air, juggling, and it works better, but it’s difficult. When I am actually shooting a movie I don’t think about anything else. The schedule is so out of control I don’t want to hear about music. If someone was like, ‘Oh, let me play this song for you.’ Well, I don’t give a shit.  I don’t even want to hear it. But, for the most part.  I try to keep things bouncing at all times.

“The movies are everywhere, they have a huge reach compared to the music, so in a way, the movie fans and music fans are quite different. Because, someone who likes the movies might hate fucking rock music. They might listen to country music, but they like horror movies,. So, it really reaches a wide base, it’s pretty weird.”

Bizzarecorpse, what is with the attitude? Ok, Rob sometimes comes here..He did answer my question months ago. And, there are Rob Zombie shirts in larger sizes..I am not huge, but I am not skinny either, and one year, a friend of mine got me a Zombie shirt for my birthday, but he wasn’t sure of the size, and he got me one that was too big..That was ok though, because I sleep in it. But, yeah, keep looking, I am sure you can find zombie shirts online in your size.

    • Rob does come on the site but he can’t answer everything. The question about large sizes should be directed at the store – Bravado – the rest of the comment you make I don’t see the point in it. Not sure why you felt the need to make disparaging points.

I also love both your music and your movies..But I can see what you are saying. Movies and tv shows tend to have a more diverse audience than bands in any musical genre do,. I know a couple of people who really like your movies, but mostly seem to listen to rap or hip hop.
