He is without doubt the Godfather of Shock Rock.  Alice Cooper has been commanded the audiences for decades now and in this article for The Village Voice, he writes about the bands that are carrying on the traditions he created. He includes Trent Reznor and Marilyn Manson (and others) in this list as well as his “little brother” Rob Zombie.

You have to start with Rob Zombie. Rob Zombie’s like my little brother. Live, he’s fantastic. if you’re gonna go see an extravaganza, sort of like a media blitz on your brain, it’s Rob Zombie. He knows his stuff when it comes to all things dark and scary.

But he’s got a great sense of humor about it. We went on tour together, and we watched the same movies. He and I (along with Tim Burton) agree, most horror movies are comedies. They’re so over-the-top if you’re not laughing there’s something wrong with you.

  1. Thanks for the great website, the movies, and most of all the music. I’ve been DJ’ing off and on since 1984. I teach young kids how to mix for parties and clubs. All our Dj’s and I are huge fans of yours and appreciate the aesthetics that you provide to entertain us all. You’re the pulp magazines i used to read come alive. My five year old loves your music and look as well. Keep it going because they all love ya!
